Good work. Not standardly made angel eyes on the Sorento.
Редкий пример того, что не все ангельские глазки смотрятся колхозно и косят под бмв))

I
A.)if using oem headlight (perma sealed) use dremel tool, because it is impossible to open without destroying the channels (groove where headlight lens is attached) use carbon re-inforced disc to cut
Изображение
Изображение

you will need security tourque screws for taking out these inside the headlight
Изображение

B. if using aftermarket (replica), glue is still perma seal but little softer) can be done in oven
for opening headlights.. assuming you got the exact replica ones...
one is from the outside.. at the side..the back of turn signal.. take it out first.. before baking it..
to open our headlights.. needs a lot of patience.. it sucks' but it’s a fact. If you try to rush this you will either give up in frustration or ruin your headlights.. I never tried to go over 250F. I did however ended up heating the lights several times each during the process. maximum temp is 230F only

1.First pre-heat the oven to 230F and bake the first light for 20 minutes. When the timer is done place the hot headlight to the counter top and place the second headlight in, then re-set the timer for 20 minutes

2.While the second headlight was baking begin working on the hot housing. Start at a corner and slowly work the tip of the screwdriver ( i used a short flat head for better control of force) around that corner. careful not to use too much force or the plastics will be deformed or break the lens cover.. If you don't have any luck with one corner go to the next.

3.By the time you have fiddled with the four corners on the first housing the 20 minute timer will go off. Swap the headlight housings in the oven and repeat the above process

4.Once you get back to the headlight housing you started with; time it until to 10 minutes then Every 10 minutes you are going to swap headlights. then by the third swap i think, you will finally see some progress, you will get the first few gaps to appear.

5. slowly check the parts that are glued tight, sad to say the corners are the worst. repeat same process.. do not prop them open quickly or you will crack them...

replica headlight can use philips screws/star screwdriver

II. after headlight is open, take a break...
inside the headlight, everything is identical whether oem or replica
take out low beam projector first (torque screws in oem; star screw in replica)
Изображение

take out the chrome bracket cover, it is secured with 5 torque screws/starscrew on the edges...
Изображение

now, before taking out the bracket, there is 3 things holding the bracket, 2 ball joint on each side, low beam and high beam side, and the adjuster
we do the adjuster first...
Изображение

adjust the headlight bracket, using no. 10 wrench instead of screwdriver, the plastic on the adjuster wears out easily and the wrench works faster in my opinion
Изображение

adjust the headlight bracket down until its like this, use pliers take the "C" shaped plastic out
Изображение

now there is 2 ball joints, lubricate with automotive oil, i used synthetic oil, wiggle it up and down, do not pull yet make sure the sockets is lubed up good..
Изображение
Изображение

now pull low beam part first, pull with force but not so much and not sudden; the headlight bracket is ceramic, it will break easily if doing so.
(alternative is to drill holes at the back of headlight, and unscrew the bolt that holds female socket- the white plastic)
Изображение

if successfull with pulling, high beam part next, pull with force, not too much and not sudden..

now you are done..
Изображение

some comparisson with projectors
rx350, sorento oem, hella intemo
Изображение
Изображение

rx350 (koito d4s)
Изображение

hella intemo perfect fit (small bowl like oem)
Изображение
Изображение

on this guide i used all rx350.
if you plan on quad (4 projectors)
(i painted the shields of the rx350 for demon-eye look before permanent fitting..)
cut the high beam reflector first, then use the stock low beam as basis for your vertical aim
Изображение

if not, just aim low beam projector on wall and mark it with painter's tape, i suggest you put brackets to hold the bracket steady..

for aiming use some tape, then jbweld stick..aiming
Изображение
Изображение
Изображение

i used JB weld stick high temp epoxy to attach projectors and and assisted with black silicone
Изображение
Изображение

oem low beam Right retro rx350 left (take a look where i did cut... to fit thr rx350)

while drying and mounting do some work for aesthitics
then put your desired modification, like paint, halo, leds:
paint and dry the bracket cover for mock-up and see what you decide for paint (* i used satin black paint)
Изображение

demon-eye led test
Изображение
Изображение

with low beam
Изображение

ia all aiming is correct. test fit on vehicle.. bolt it on, test drive
if its all good finalize design..

mock up pics.. note the space inside because shroud is trimmed to accomodate the space needed for rx350
Изображение

finalize with your drl or halo..

i used shrouds to cut into place
Изображение
Изображение

you can see there is no space inside
Изображение
Изображение
Изображение

some decals
Изображение
Изображение

added side marker wit some leds connected to the amber poertion, i used paint over decal to achieve that look and leds underneath..
Изображение

sealing: i used black silicone for sealing, koito butyl for the replica, air dry silicone for 2 days... before installing
